Description:
Alanine,n,N'-[[5-[2-amino-5-(2,2-dimethyl-1-oxopropyl)-4-thiazolyl]-2-furanyl]phosphinylidene]bis[2-methyl-,1,1'-diethylester] is a metabolic inhibitor that is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It inhibits gluconeogenesis by inhibiting the enzyme phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK), which catalyzes the conversion of oxaloacetate to phosphoenolpyruvate. This compound has been shown to reduce fasting blood glucose levels in diabetic animals and humans.
