Description

2-Amino-1,5-dithiopteridine-4,6-dione is a metabolite of the pyrimidine nucleoside thymidine. It has been shown to have antitumor activity in human serum and has been used as a diagnostic agent for autoimmune diseases. 2-Amino-1,5-dithiopteridine-4,6-dione binds with high affinity to DNA and RNA templates through hydrogen bonding interactions. It is an important component in wastewater treatment because it binds to organic matter in wastewater and can be removed by precipitation or adsorption. 2DTP also has the potential to be used as a matrix effect inducer for biological samples such as blood and urine.
