Aluminium chloride hexahydrate is a chemical compound that is used to produce aluminum, as well as in the production of paper and textiles. It is also used in the manufacture of other chemicals such as chlorine, copper, and hydrochloric acid. Aluminium chloride hexahydrate has been shown to have neurotoxic effects on the central nervous system (CNS), specifically in the brain. The neurotoxic effects are due to its ability to inhibit various functions of brain cells, including cellular growth factor-β1. This chemical compound also inhibits polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with low doses. Aluminium chloride hexahydrate can be detected using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
