Acibenzolar-S-methyl is not effective against all types of bacteria, but it has been shown to inhibit the growth of some strains when used at concentrations of 1 ppm or higher. Acibenzolar-S-methyl can also be used as a fungicide to control postharvest disease caused by fungi such as Botrytis cinerea and Sphaerotheca macularis.
