Description

Ajugarin II is a bioactive diterpene that has been shown to have antimalarial properties. It is extracted from the Ajuga genus of plants, which are commonly used in herbal remedies. Ajugarin II has also been shown to have insecticidal and antifeedant activities. The skeleton of Ajugarin II is related to that of other diterpenes and flavonols found in lepidoptera larvae. Chromatographic analyses have revealed the presence of tetradecanoic acid, heptadecanoic acid, hexadecanoic acid, octadecanoic acid, nonadecanoic acid and eicosanoic acid in Ajugarin II.
