4-Allylaminocarbonylphenylboronic acid is a chemical compound that is used as an antibiotic. It is an aminoglycoside, which inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the ribosome and preventing the formation of proteins. 4-Allylaminocarbonylphenylboronic acid has been shown to be bactericidal in vitro against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. This drug also reversibly binds to the polymer matrix of the eye, which may help prevent bacterial keratitis. 4-Allylaminocarbonylphenylboronic acid may reduce damage caused by hydroxyl radicals, which are often associated with inflammation in infections.
