Description:

5-Azaindole is a heterocyclic compound that has been studied for its biological properties. It is a prodrug of trifluoroacetic acid, which can be used to treat metabolic disorders and autoimmune diseases. 5-Azaindole has also been shown to increase the expression of growth factor in cells, which may be useful in treating pain or bowel disease. This drug is metabolized by hydroxylation followed by conjugation with glucuronic acid and excretion in the urine. 5-Azaindole is also converted to an active form by enzymatic oxidation of a hydroxyl group and protonation on the nitrogen atom, as well as conversion to sorafenib (a drug used to inhibit tumor growth).
