Description:Adipic anhydride is a solid dispersant that is used in the production of polycarboxylic acids. It is a solid with a melting point of about 210°C and has a high viscosity. Adipic anhydride can be used for the preparation of amides with carboxylic acid or amine derivatives. This compound can also be used to produce polyamide resins, which are degradable plastics that are derived from adipic acid. Adipic anhydride has been found to have moderate toxicity in animal studies, but is not carcinogenic.
