It is also known as para-aminophenyl phosphate, 4-APP and pAPP and is an enzyme substrate for alkaline phosphatase (ALP, EC.3.1.3.1). Used in enzymatic reactions to quantify ALP activity, the enzyme-generated p-aminophenol is the result of the hydrolysis of the substrate 4-aminophenyl phosphate (4-APP) by alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and it is used to determine ALP concentrations. It several studies, it's been used for electrochemical enzyme immnoassays (e-ELISAs).
