4-Amino-1-phenylpyrazolo[3,4-D]pyrimidine is an amphipathic molecule with a molecular weight of 283.33 Da. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. The biological function of 4-Amino-1-phenylpyrazolo[3,4-D]pyrimidine is not fully understood, but it has been shown to be able to bind to sephadex g-100 beads. The compound has also been shown to have an effect on the natural Ca2+ response in rat neurons, which may be due to its ability to induce neuronal death by inhibiting protein synthesis.
