2-Aminobenzylcyanide is an aliphatic hydrocarbon that is synthesized from the reaction of hydrochloric acid with a model system. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of muscle cells at a concentration of 10 μM. This inhibition was due to an increase in the production of monoclonal antibodies and amides. 2-Aminobenzylcyanide also has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, as well as being used for the synthesis of 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid.
