Description

2-Aminopyridine-5-sulfonic acid is an alkaline hydrolysis product of benzene and water. It is an organic compound that is classified as a heterocyclic amine. The molecule has a pyridine ring with two nitrogen atoms in the ring. 2-Aminopyridine-5-sulfonic acid has been shown to be used as a ligand for coordination of ruthenium metal ions, which has been studied by theory and experiment. This ligand was also found to be able to coordinate halides such as chloride, bromide, or iodide ions. 2-Aminopyridine-5-sulfonic acid can exist in two different isomers: (S)-2-(benzyloxycarbonylamino)pyridine 5 sulfonic acid or (R)-2-(benzyloxycarbonylamino)pyridine 5 sulfonic acid.
