Description:Antrafenine hydrochloride is a drug repositioning agent. It is a prodrug that is converted to its active form, antrafenine, by the enzyme dehydrogenase in vivo. Antrafenine hydrochloride has been shown to be effective in treating chronic kidney disease (CKD) in animal models and cell culture studies. It has also been shown to be an effective analgesic for cancer pain and inflammatory diseases. Antrafenine hydrochloride has been used as a growth factor for wound healing and tissue regeneration, as well as being biocompatible with various polymers including polylactic acid (PLA), polyglycolic acid (PGA) and hyaluronic acid (HA).
