Description:Ammonium dodecylbenzenesulphonate is a cationic surfactant that is used in the formulation of water-in-oil emulsions and pesticides. It has also been used as a surface active agent, a film-forming polymer, and an emulsion stabilizer. Ammonium dodecylbenzenesulphonate is made up of a quaternary ammonium salt with the chemical formula CH3(CH2)11SO3Na. The particle size of ammonium dodecylbenzenesulphonate can be adjusted by changing the degree of hydrolysis. The solubility of ammonium dodecylbenzenesulphonate in water is about 50% at room temperature. The solubility in organic solvents such as acetone, ethanol, and methanol are between 10% and 40%.
