Amisulbrom is a diphenyl ether pesticide that belongs to the amide class and has been used in the past as a control agent for fruit tree pests. Amisulbrom is a competitive inhibitor of acetolactate synthase, which is an enzyme involved in the production of branched-chain amino acids. Amisulbrom inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the active site of acetolactate synthase, preventing the formation of branched-chain amino acids. This results in growth regulation and death of plants or insects, depending on their life cycle stage.
