Description

2-Amino-4-methyl benzoic acid (AMBA) is a methyltransferase inhibitor. It has been shown to inhibit the enzyme in the methyl group transfer process, which is important for the synthesis of anthranilic acid, an intermediate of choline. AMBA inhibits acetylcholine production by blocking the enzyme that converts choline to acetylcholine. In addition, this compound has been shown to be a potent anticancer agent and a chemical biology tool that can be used to study protein function.
