Product Information
2-Amino-5-iodophenol is a molecule that has a functional theory. It can be reduced to 2-amino-5-(hydroxymethyl)phenol by hydrogen gas or hydrazine, which can then be oxidized to 2-amino-5-(formyl)phenol by ferric ion. 2-Amino-5-(formyl)phenol is an intermediate for the production of the chemical compound dimerization, which is used in the production of photoelectrochemical cells. These cells are used for the detection of trace amounts of substances and for other applications such as fingerprint identification and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). This molecule also reacts with electrodes in a reduction reaction, causing electrons to flow from the electrode where oxidation occurs to the electrode where reduction occurs.
