Description:4-Amino-m-cresol is a diamine that inhibits the uptake of amines by cells. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in vitro by binding to the DNA and preventing transcription. 4-Amino-m-cresol is believed to form covalent adducts with DNA and may also be involved in oxidative damage to DNA. 4-Amino-m-cresol has been used as an analytical method for bisphenol A, but not for ethylene diamine or urine samples. In cell culture studies, 4-amino m-cresol has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on fatty acid synthesis and cell proliferation.
