8-Aminopyrene-1,3,6-trisulfonic acid trisodium salt (APTS) is a fluorescent probe that can be used to detect the presence of chloride ions. It has been found to be a sensitive and selective method for detecting chloride even at low concentrations. The detection limit of APTS is in the millimolar range.
