The binding of Arsenazo III to calcium is also responsible for its light signal. Arsenazo III binds to copper chloride and forms an insoluble precipitate when reacted with acidic solutions. This reaction can be used for analytical purposes as it produces a quantifiable end-point with plasma mass spectrometry.
