Description:Acetyl-L-leucine methyl ester is a molecule that has been synthesized by demethylating acetyl-L-leucine. It is an analog of acetylcholine and is able to interact with the catalytic subunit of phosphatase. Acetyl-L-leucine methyl ester hydrolyses to release L-leucine and methyl acetate in a ratio of 1:1. This molecule has been shown to be a substrate for phosphatases, which are enzymes that catalyze the dephosphorylation process. The reaction of acetyl-L-leucine methyl ester with phosphatases is reversible, as it hydrolyzes into L-leucine and methyl acetate.
