2-Aminobenzenesulfonamide (2AB) is a chemical compound that can be synthesized from the reaction of an imidazole hydrochloride with carbonic acid or diazonium salt. 2AB is a non-nucleoside inhibitor of bacterial enzyme. It binds to the active site of bacterial enzyme and blocks the synthesis of DNA by inhibiting the enzymatic activity. The chemical structure of 2AB resembles that of quinazolines, which are also used as pharmacological agents. These compounds are used to treat cancer, malaria, and other diseases. In addition, monoclonal antibodies have been developed as a promising new therapy for cancer treatment with 2AB being one of the most promising candidates.
