5-Amino-2-methoxypyridine (5A2MP) is a compound that has been shown to induce apoptotic cell death in cancer cells and human liver cells. 5A2MP binds to the hydroxyl group of fatty acids, which is a characteristic of apoptotic cells. It also inhibits the activity of proton pumps, which may be responsible for the accumulation of hydrogen ions that leads to apoptosis. The molecular modelling studies show its constant value as well as its amide group. The chemical structure and its inhibitory effect on cancer cells can be observed through its nmr spectra.
