Description:2-Amino-6-methoxybenzoic acid is a monosubstituted amide, which is synthesized by the hydrolysis of 2-amino-5-methylbenzoic acid with hydrochloric acid in the presence of diacetate. This compound is formed as part of the biosynthesis of aminophenols and heterocycles. It can be used to adsorb metal ions and organic compounds, such as chloride and butyllithium. 2-Amino-6-methoxybenzoic acid is also found in aeruginosa infections due to its ability to inhibit bacterial growth by inhibiting protein synthesis. The synthesis of this compound requires shikimate pathway enzymes.
