4'-Acetylbenzo-15-crown 5-ether is a flocculent, water soluble compound with a hydrochloric acid and photoreduction reaction. It is synthesized by the transfer of lithium cation from an anion to a chalcone. The reaction solution is exothermic and the copolymerization of picric acid and carbonyl groups produces the product. 4'-Acetylbenzo-15-crown 5-ether has been used in synthesis methods for pharmaceuticals, polymers, and dyes as well as for the production of explosives such as picric acid. This chemical substance can be used to produce anions that are not thermally stable.
