Product Information
2-Amino-3,5-dichlorobenzonitrile is a benzene derivative that is formed by the thermal decomposition of phenol. It has a molecular weight of 112.11 and a melting point of -71.6°C. The monomer can be converted to polymers by condensation reactions with formaldehyde or urea. 2-Amino-3,5-dichlorobenzonitrile can undergo oxidation with nitric acid to produce 2,4,6-trichlorophenol. The vibrational spectra are in the range from 300 to 600 cm-1 and show a series of bands corresponding to symmetric stretching modes at 300 cm-1, symmetric bending modes at 400 cm-1, and asymmetric bending modes at 500 cm-1. The raman spectrum shows two peaks at 335 and 515 cm-1 corresponding to the C=N bond vibrations in the molecule's molecular structure.
