Description:4-Amino-2-chlorophenol is an aminophenol that is used in the production of acetate, which is used in the manufacture of acetic acid. It is also used as a building block for organic synthesis. 4-Amino-2-chlorophenol reacts with acetyl chloride to form chloracetyl chloride, which can then be reacted with piperonyl butoxide to form 2-(4'-aminophenyl)-4,6-dichloropyridine. This reaction is catalyzed by hydrogen chloride and hydrogen bond formation with urea nitrogen. 4-Amino-2-chlorophenol has been shown to have long-term toxicity in animal studies and may be toxic when inhaled or ingested.
