L(+)-Alliin is a natural product that is found in garlic. It has been shown to have significant antioxidant activity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lipid peroxidation. L(+)-Alliin also inhibits the production of interleukin-6 (IL-6) by macrophages and neutrophils, which may contribute to its anti-inflammatory properties. L(+)-Alliin has been shown to have antibiotic activity against opportunistic fungal infections in vivo, as well as significant upregulation in CDNA clone when injected into mice. L(+)-Alliin can be used as an analytical standard for alliin content by chromatographic analysis. The rate constant for decomposition of l(+)-alliin was determined to be 1.8x10^5 M-1s-1 at 37 degrees Celsius and pH 7.0 using a kinetic study
