Amentoflavone is a pro-apoptotic protein that belongs to the α1 subunit family. It has been shown to induce apoptosis in mammalian cells by binding to the α subunit of protein phosphatase 2A and inhibiting the dephosphorylation of eukaryotic initiation factor 2α (eIF2α). Amentoflavone also inhibits inflammatory responses through its anti-inflammatory activity and cell lysis. This compound has been shown to inhibit infectious diseases, such as influenza virus, hepatitis B virus, and HIV. Amentoflavone may be used for the treatment of coronary heart diseases due to its inhibitory properties on angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) activity.
