3-(1-Hydroxyethyl)aniline is a biomolecule that is created by the reaction of aniline and cyclohexanol. This reaction takes place in the presence of hydrochloric acid as a catalyst under hydrostatic pressure. The reaction products are characterized by their high surface area, which gives them excellent catalytic properties. 3-(1-Hydroxyethyl)aniline has been shown to be an efficient non-selective catalyst for reactions involving anilines and other aromatic compounds, such as styrene. It also has good selectivity for reactions with cyclohexanol over other alcohols, such as ethanol or methanol.
