2'-Amino-4',5'-dimethoxyacetophenone (2-ADMA) is a topoisomerase inhibitor. 2-ADMA inhibits the growth of cancer cells by targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), which is the major signaling pathway for cell division and survival. It has been shown to inhibit EGFR in a number of cancers, including breast and prostate cancer. 2-ADMA binds to the iminium group on the receptor and prevents binding of EGF ligands, preventing downstream signal transduction. This drug also has pharmacophore properties that are similar to lapatinib, a drug used for the treatment of breast cancer.
