Product Information
- AtriopeptinIII
- Atrial natriuretic peptide (103-126)
Atriopeptin III is a peptide hormone that regulates diastolic pressure and has minimal toxicity. It is a cyclase inhibitor, which means it inhibits the enzyme in the cell that converts ATP to cyclic AMP (cAMP). Atriopeptin III binds to receptors on kidney tubule cells and increases the production of cAMP, thereby increasing the rate of sodium excretion. Atriopeptin III also has anti-infectious properties and can be used for the treatment of diseases such as congestive heart failure or infections caused by bacteria or viruses. The disulfide bond in atriopeptin III is essential for its activity.
