3-Acetyl-5-hydroxymethyl-7-hydroxycoumarin (3AHC) is a natural product that can be found in the fructus ligustri, chemical biology, and curcuma aromatica. It has been shown to have anti-HIV activity against human pathogens. 3AHC inhibits glucose injection, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of proteins that are essential for cell division. The toxicity of 3AHC has been studied with a lc-ms/ms method. It was found that there is no significant difference in the toxicity of 3AHC when compared with other coumarin derivatives. 3AHC has also been shown to have an effect on HIV infection and may serve as a potential drug target for HIV treatment.
