Avilamycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter. It is used to treat infections caused by bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics. Avilamycin has also been shown to be effective against colorectal adenocarcinoma cells, which are resistant to many other chemotherapeutic agents. The mechanism of action of avilamycin involves binding to the ABC transporter and preventing it from transporting ATP out of the cell. This leads to an accumulation of intracellular ATP and subsequent inhibition of protein synthesis and cell division. A 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is a potent antituberculosis drug that belongs to the class of rifamycins. It is the most active of the rifamycins for the treatment of tuberculosis. Rifapentine inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase
