(1S,4R)-Aza-bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-en-3-one is a hydrogen bond inhibitor that binds to the active site of DPPIV, which is an enzyme involved in the breakdown of peptide bonds. This compound can be used as a chemical probe for studying hydrogen bonding interactions. The kinetic properties of this drug have been studied and it has been found to bind reversibly and noncompetitively to DPPIV with a Kd value of 4 nM. It has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in vitro, including meticillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
