5-Allyl-2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde is an organic compound that has been shown to be a ligand for the protein thymus. It is synthesized by the reaction of allyl alcohol with 3-methoxyphenol in the presence of zinc metal, which acts as a catalyst. The reaction yields high yields of 5-allyl-2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde and can be enhanced by the addition of fluorescers, such as quinones.
