  • 5-Phenylpyrazin-2-Amine
Description:

2-Amino-5-phenylpyrazine is a nucleophilic compound that reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce a reactive oxygen species, which can lead to cell death. 2-Amino-5-phenylpyrazine has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the enzyme carbonic anhydrase and can be used to inhibit the growth of bacteria. This compound also binds to the receptor binding site on cells, blocking the production of proteins needed for cell division. 2-Amino-5-phenylpyrazine binds to the active site on enzymes and prevents them from functioning properly. This inhibits bacterial growth by preventing protein synthesis. 2-Amino-5-phenylpyrazine is also able to bind with DNA bases and prevent transcription in bacteria.
