Description:3-Hydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinazoline-2,4-dione is an amido-containing amino acid that is a potent and selective antagonist of the AMPA receptor. It has been shown to be active against influenza A and B viruses in cell culture. 3-Hydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinazoline-2,4-dione also inhibits glutamate release in the brain by blocking presynaptic calcium currents. The molecular modeling study of this drug on a chlorine atom revealed a hydrogen bond with the carboxyl group at position 2 and a nitrogen atom at position 4. This hydrogen bond may explain its pharmacokinetic properties.
