2-Nitrophenylarsonic Acid is a water soluble anion that is used to prepare arsenical compounds. This compound has been shown to be toxic to humans and animals, as it inhibits protein synthesis by blocking the transfer of amino acids across the ribosome. 2-Nitrophenylarsonic acid has been shown to cause hemolysis in human erythrocytes, which may be due to its ability to form complexes with metal ions such as iron and copper. 2-Nitrophenylarsonic acid has been implicated in the development of enterohepatitis, which can lead to cirrhosis of the liver. This chemical is also used for magnetic separation, liquid chromatography, and wastewater treatment.
