- (2-(4-Chlorophenyl)-4-Quinolinyl)(2-Piperidinyl)Methanol
Vacquinol-1 is a molecule that has been shown to induce apoptosis in malignant brain cells and inhibit the growth of primary cells. It also inhibits the proliferation of epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor-positive cells. Vacquinol-1 binds to collagen, which is present in all tissues of the body, including fetal bovine and human type I collagen gel. This binding leads to activation of cation channels, which then leads to apoptotic effect, cell death, and eventually tumor regression.
