It is used for the treatment of prostatic hyperplasia and benign prostatic hypertrophy. 1-Benzyl-1-phenylhydrazine hydrochloride has been shown to reduce the symptoms of urinary obstruction and to slow the progression of prostate cancer cells in vitro. It also has side effect profiles that are similar to those of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as gastrointestinal upset and diarrhea.
