It is synthesized by the reaction of isocyanates and succinamide, followed by cyclization. 2-Aminocarbonylnicotinic acid has been used to produce benzoic acids, amides, and dicarboxylic acids. This compound has also been shown to be an effective inhibitor of bacterial growth in vitro. 2-Aminocarbonylnicotinic acid is an unsubstituted molecule that can be used as a starting material for the synthesis of other compounds.
