It is believed to work by interfering with the synthesis of bacterial cell wall, which leads to cell death. 16-Epi-deacetyl-fusidic acid has been shown to be active against gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes, but not against gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This product has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects.
