Description:Benzyl thiocyanate is a chemical species that belongs to the class of selenium compounds. It can be used to oxidize thiocyanate to benzyl cyanide, which is then converted to benzyl thiocyanate. The optimum concentration of this reagent is 1-5 mM in hydrochloric acid, with a reaction time of 10 minutes at low energy. Benzyl thiocyanate can be used for analytical chemistry and for the treatment of colorectal adenocarcinoma. It has been shown that benzyl thiocyanate inhibits the enzyme activity of glutathione reductase and cytochrome p450, as well as DNA synthesis, protein synthesis and cell proliferation.
