Description

7,8-Benzoflavone is a polyphenol that has been shown to have inhibitory properties against a variety of bacterial and fungal pathogens. 7,8-Benzoflavone has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of human leukemia cell line HL-60 cells in vitro. It also inhibits the activity of cytochrome P450 enzymes as well as hydrogen fluoride toxicity in mice. In vivo studies using rats have shown that 7,8-benzoflavone can produce skin tumor formation. This compound may also be useful for the treatment of infectious diseases such as pneumonia and tuberculosis.
