2-Bromo-1,2-benzothiazole is a fluorescent probe that binds to vitamin B1. It has been used in the detection of palladium complexes and chemical structures. 2-Bromo-1,2-benzothiazole is a potent antagonist to the vitamin B1 receptor and has been shown to be efficient in inhibiting human carcinoma cells. This compound was synthesized by solid phase synthesis. 2-Bromo-1,2-benzothiazole has also been used as an electrochemical probe for measuring the efficiency of the nucleophilic attack of amines on aryl boronic acids.
