Description:
n-Butylboronic acid is a chemical reagent that is used in organic synthesis and as an additive to fuels. It is also used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, dyes, and other chemicals. The chemical has been detected at a low concentration in human liver and blood. It can be found in the ethyl esters of 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid, which are also called n-butylbenzoates. n-Butylboronic acid is a cationic surfactant that binds to serine protease and prevents it from acting on its substrate. These properties make it useful for chromatographic techniques as well as hydroxyl group analysis by spectrometry or chromatography.
