Description

N-Boc-pyrrolidine is a chemical compound used in organic synthesis as a cross-coupling partner with organometallic reagents. It is an allylation agent, which reacts with electrophiles to form covalent bonds via an addition reaction. The use of N-Boc-pyrrolidine in this type of reaction can be attributed to its low activation energy and the ease with which it forms electrophilic intermediates. This compound has been used in the synthesis of many pharmaceuticals, including antiarrhythmics and antibiotics.

N-Boc-pyrrolidine has also been used for the immobilization of enzymes that are responsible for reactions such as hydrolysis and oxidation, as well as for the structural analysis of molecules such as chlorides and protonated nitrogen heterocycles.
