Description:

5-bromo-2-fluoropyrimidine is a monosubstituted, esterified heterocyclic compound. It is a colorless solid that is soluble in methyl alcohol and deionized water. 5-Bromo-2-fluoropyrimidine has been shown to be useful in the synthesis of esters. The reaction of 5-bromo-2-fluoropyrimidine with sodium hydroxide solution produces an acid chloride, which is then reacted with methyl alcohol and an organic base to form the desired ester. This process can be used to synthesize methyl 3-[(5-bromo-2-fluoro)pyrimidin-4yl]propanoate, which can be used as a precursor for other compounds.
