5-Bromo-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine is a chemical substance that belongs to the class of indole compounds. It has been shown to be an analgesic agent in mice and rats. 5-Bromo-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine was found to be effective as a topical analgesic in animal models. This drug also has antiinflammatory properties and has been shown to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. 5-Bromo-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine binds to the benzyloxyphenyl group on the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which leads to the production of protonated diclofenac (a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug). The protonated form of diclofenac inhibits the production of prostaglandins and thromboxanes by inhibiting ar
